"Our goal is for all Taiwanese to have a Minerva brain!” This slogan stands on the cover of a 2022 Taiwan Top 100 Business Bestselling book written by three Minerva University graduate alumni to share how they have applied Minerva's teachings in the spheres of law, medicine, and international trade.
In 2024, Minerva University signed a partnership agreement with Worldviews Academy, founded by Chiata Lee—one of the authors of the book—in the hope of continuing to promote Minerva's skills-based innovative pedagogy to audiences in East Asia.
"I have been teaching business decision-making and innovative thinking in enterprises and schools for ten years, but I didn't realize until I entered Minerva University that my past training methods should have been eliminated in the age of AI." Lee realized that learning in the AI generation should not continue to passively disseminate outdated knowledge—instead the focus should shift towards building resilience to unknown challenges.
Lee found Minerva’s Habits of Mind and Foundational Concepts (HCs) to be the best available application of this new style of education, so he founded Worldviews Academy (WA) to bring this type of active learning classroom to schools, enterprises, and government initiatives in Taiwan. Over the past five years, WA has amassed more than 1,000 students across a variety of fields and ages, from 16 to 75, ranging from AI engineers and bank presidents to subway drivers and even Buddhist priests. According to one of WA’s student surveys, after 10 weeks of training, students were able to improve their problem-solving skills by more than 50% on average, highly surpassing the results of traditional training.
With the official partnership between Worldviews Academy and Minerva University, WA students are eligible for a 10% tuition scholarship for those admitted to one of Minerva’s Decision Analysis graduate programs. The aim of the partnership is for more of Taiwan's bright and motivated working professionals will have the opportunity to experience Minerva’s pedagogy and to grow the entire Minerva global community.
When asked about the next milestones for WA, Lee shares: "We are planning to cooperate with Hahow, the largest online education platform in Taiwan, and hope that next year, more than 10,000 people will attend our classes to gain a better understanding of Minerva's educational philosophy. We would like to see more outstanding Taiwanese students join Minerva, so that Taiwan truly becomes the most important headquarters of Minerva in Asia.” The social network behind this ambition seems to have already taken shape, with 13 students from WA currently enrolled in or have graduated from Minerva to date.
