Hello from London!
As the daffodils and cherry blossoms are starting to bloom in the parks, I’m looking back to Early January, when London’s air was still crisp and bitter as we were moving into the Residence Hall.
London welcomed us with so many opportunities to engage in the local culture! We started our city immersion during Elevation, our introduction week in January, when we visited the Camden and Seven Dials Markets, enjoying the modern twists on flavors of traditional dishes.
Beyond food, the art scene in the city is fantastic! Many Minervans have been visiting museums or watching West End shows, which left them with vibrant memories. Personally, I loved seeing Van Gogh’s art in person for the first time at the National Gallery, and I’m looking forward to attending Lés Miserables, my first official musical show, later this month!
For those of us prioritizing professional growth, London is the best place to focus on it. With most rising seniors and the graduating class being all in one place, the Minerva community is always up-to-date on the most interesting conferences, networking events, and professional opportunities in the city. Many students have been enjoying civic projects, and some have even started their own location-based initiatives here. Some of my classmates organized Students @ AI, a two-day event directed towards college students to supercharge their learning with AI, while others have been staying busy rehearsing and planning a musical show, Mamma Mia! These events are just the tip of the iceberg, as the Minerva community has been staying engaged, organizing VC Demo Day visits, spice-tasting challenges, film screenings, and sustainability talks among many others.
Finally, the travel opportunities within the UK are unmissable! With many destinations like the Seven Sisters Cliffs, Cambridge, Oxford, and Stonehedge being a short train ride away, my classmates and I have been taking any chance we get to hop on a train and explore old British towns and untamed nature.
This semester has been everything and more when it comes to connecting the Minerva community. Whenever our class gets together for 10:01s or film screenings, we are all so excited to catch up on our most recent travels, learning, and exploration! As our time in London is slowly wrapping up, I’m excited to fit as much exploration as possible in this multidimensional city.
Warmly,
Andi
