Do you ever wonder what each day really looks like for a Minervan? For me, life as a Minerva student in Taipei is a perfect mix of academics, adventure, and discovering hidden gems. With a unique schedule and the freedom to explore the city, each day feels exciting and new. Here’s a glimpse into what a typical day looks like for me.
Morning: Peaceful Walks and Breakfast
I usually wake up around 10 AM, but today, I decided to get up a little earlier. After making a quick breakfast, I head out for a morning walk through the park just in front of our residence hall. This park is one of my favorite places to start the day—filled with greenery, families with their kids, and people walking their dogs. It’s a peaceful way to get energized for the day.
Mid-Morning: Biking to a Café Near the National Taiwan University
After my walk, I grab a bike and head to a café near National Taiwan University (NTU). Biking in Taipei is incredibly convenient, and also gives me the chance to enjoy the city’s beautiful streets and nature on the way.
Today, I’m meeting my friends for a study session at a cozy café near campus. I spend a few hours here catching up on assignments and preparing for my marketing class later tonight. It’s a productive and relaxed environment, with just the right mix of focus and socializing.
Afternoon: Exploring Da’an Park and Lunch
After wrapping up our work at the café, my friend and I bike to Da’an Park. Da’an Park is one of the most beautiful and lively spots in Taipei. It’s enormous, with everything from walking paths to ponds and open green spaces where people exercise, lounge, or picnic.
For lunch, we stopped at a nearby restaurant. Taipei has so many fantastic food options that it’s hard to go wrong.
Evening: Class Time and More Studying
After a peaceful afternoon at Da’an Park, it’s time to head back to the residence hall and prepare for my marketing class. Minerva’s virtual format means I can attend classes from anywhere, and today, I’ll be joining from my room.
Classes at Minerva are constantly engaging, with lots of discussion and collaboration. It’s incredible to have classmates and professors from around the world bringing different perspectives to every topic we cover. After class wraps up around 10 PM, I usually spend a bit more time reviewing notes and getting a head start on assignments for the next day.
Late Night: Taipei Night Market Adventures
After class, my friends and I decided to hit up one of Taipei’s famous night markets. If you haven’t been to a night market, imagine rows and rows of food stalls, the smell of street food, and the sounds of people chatting.
We tried all kinds of local dishes tonight—scallion pancakes, dumplings, and some refreshing shaved ice to top it off. Taipei’s night markets are one of the highlights of living here— I never tire of the energy and the endless varieties.
The balance between nature, culture, and urban life is what makes this city so special. Whether biking through the city, discovering a new café, or hanging out with friends, there’s always something new to see or try each day.
