The program will provide four-year scholarships to promising students.
Minerva University has announced a new partnership with Rise, an initiative of Schmidt Futures and the Rhodes Trust that finds promising young people and provides opportunity for life as they work to serve others. Minerva joins other partner institutions, including the University of Chicago and the University of Edinburgh to support Rise Global Winners with need-based higher education scholarships.
“We are thrilled that Minerva is one of a handful of highly prestigious schools the foundation is working with on this Rise Scholars pilot,” said Minerva University President Mike Magee. “This partnership helps ensure that talented students from around the world have access to Minerva University’s unique education.”
The program seeks young people ages 15 to 17 and encourages a lifetime of service and learning by providing support that may include need-based scholarships, mentorship, networking, access to career development opportunities, and the potential for additional funding as Rise Global Winners work toward solving humanity’s most pressing problems.
Ana Beatriz Campos Carneiro is a Minerva University student in the Class of 2027 and a Rise Global Winner from Brazil.
“The north star in my career is to make scientific and technological advances in health services more accessible in Latin America and to invest in opportunities for our local scientists and researchers,” she said. “Being a Rise Global Winner represents my commitment to spending my life serving others and using my resources for the common good. Meeting and being inspired by the other Rise Global Winners reminds me of our generation’s power to make a positive impact.”
